DJ Cassidy, Cheetah, 12/24/01

Christmas eve 2001. Yours truly preparing his records for a night at Cheetah. After Jay-Z’s mention of the now legendary club, it was hotter than ever. Peep the two-way pager.

Merrell Wilderness Boot

Picture 1

I’m not much of a boot man but I recently bought these for trip to Gstaad, Switzerland. I actually spent a lot of time boot hunting and ended up really liking these. Aside reminding me of the Vasquez and Polo boots I had in high school, they fit snug as a bug. Pictures of my trip to come.

DJ Cassidy & MySpace Music Present: Shuffleboard “Notes of Inspiration”

DJ-Cassidy-Shuffle-Board

Last week, MySpace Music and I unveiled a new program entitled “Shuffleboard.” Curated by me and featured on the front page of MySpace.Com, “Shuffleboard” will feature themed playlists at least once a week.

“Shuffleboard” is your newest mixtape and your latest playlist. It is the clerk at your local record store that no longer exists, the curator of your music museum. “Shuffleboard” is your resident deejay. It is the soundtrack to your life, brought to you by me, DJ Cassidy, and special guests along the way. Listen, contribute, share, and most importantly, enjoy.

Click the here below to view last week’s debut winter playlist, “Hot Cocoa & Marshmallows,” and this week’s playlist, “Notes of Inspiration.”

The Greatest Day Of My Life

One year ago today, on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, I deejayed the Inauguration of Barack Obama. Deejaying, or shall I say Hip Hop, brought me to the President of the United States. The first black president in history. The most significant leader of our time. It was the greatest day of my life.

Farewell Teddy Pendergrass: Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes “Wake Up Everybody”

I cried the first time I heard “Wake Up Everybody.” I can picture myself in my bedroom at my mom’s house years ago on a snowy December day sitting on my bed, mesmerized by Teddy’s voice. So warm, so silky, and so smooth, Teddy sent shivers down my spine with his commanding but gentle words of inspiration, words that couldn’t be more meaningful today with the tragedy in Haiti. “Wake Up!” he shouted without shouting. He oozed his demand into your soul. Teddy Pendergrass is the epitome of soul. I can recite every sexy lyric and each passionate grunt of “Close The Door” by heart. The list doesn’t end there. “Love TKO,” “When Somebody Loves You Back,” “Don’t Leave Me This Way,” and so many many many more. There are a handful of producers who have affected my life of music and my passion for soul and Gamble & Huff are one of them. Creators of the Philly Soul sound, they gave Teddy the music, he gave them the voice. Farewell Teddy and thank you. We will listen forever.
